UPDATE: SEPTEMBER 2026 · POURING THE FOUNDATION

A new home for Long Lots & Stepping Stones.

A new elementary school and preschool building designed to serve Westport students, families, educators and the broader community for decades to come.

AT A GLANCE

Foundations in progress

Newfield Construction is leading the build of the new school while the existing school remains operational for students.

  • The latest: 100 geothermal wells and site mobilization completed this Spring; excavation, foundations and waterproofing are underway through September.
  • Newfield Construction estimates the new building phase will take approximately 20 months.
  • Students are projected to move into the new school in January 2028, after winter break.
  • After the move, the next phase will include demolition of the existing school, followed by construction of parking areas, playgrounds and athletic fields, estimated to be complete by August 2028.

Good News

Wins for Westport: residents, students and families.

A $1 million incentive from Eversource.

Because the new building's design surpasses Connecticut's sustainability and energy-performance metrics, Eversource is awarding the project approximately $1 million in energy incentives — money that comes back to Westport and helps offset the cost of the project.
